My greatest love is the sea. There is nothing that uplifts me more than to be able to get into the sea. It is a combination of the sensation of water like silk flowing over the skin… and being under the vastness of sky. The enormity of it soothes and comforts me always. I assume the water is a reminder of the safety of the womb, but that doesn’t account for the joy of  the open space above. I particularly love the sparkle of light on water which always seems to me like a bridge between Heaven and Earth.

This  photo is of Abercastle, a little gem of a place I return to again and again. I have swam past this little cottage many times at high tide and took this photo on a chilly winter day when the tide was low. Sometime later I  played around with some filters and here we are.

I watched someone feed the birds here in Goodwick one day when my mood was very low and since then I have brought bread often when I have felt the need to lift my spirits. I love watching the impossibly white gulls and the clever crows wheeling over me. I have not yet managed to capture them as I would like but I keep trying. This is one of many images I took one day when I had run out of bread, and the birds had lost interest in me.

I took this image above when out with my friend one day last year. I think it might have been our last trip out, as she was very poorly. She has since died of the cancer that she was living with. We had discussed my having a swim that day but it was too rough. As we sat and watched the sea from a layby, the light pierced the sky and I captured this image.

Pwll Gwaelod (above ) is the first place I discovered to swim, near where I live, when I first came to live in Pembrokeshire. The place  has inspired me to write a number of stories. This image I played about with, using some filters… quite a new thing for me… and quite liked the colours and shape. I have just noticed the sign poking up behind the pots which jars a bit… but hey… I am just a snapper.

Also Pwll Gwaelod. I like the image of a dear friend walking towards a choppy sea with Goodwick in the background.

If you have some photos you would like to share with us send them to Kitty at speaktofish@gmail.com with a bit of information about you and your images.
