A Song of the Sea… from Jodie Marie

Jodie Marie, whom we featured recently, has released a single from her upcoming new album and she makes it quite clear that it was inspired by the sea that laps at the Pembrokeshire coast.
In Carageen she sings of shivers down her spine… and that is exactly the effect of this beautiful evocation not only of the sea but of deep emotion.
A collaboration with renowned songwriter Ed Harcourt, the track successfully marries a number of styles and creates something truly touching.
Carageen is the name of a dark seaweed that grows on the Welsh coast where Jodie walks and swims.
“There was a time I felt quite lost, the ocean was my safe place,” she says. “I love how the sea is so big, it makes me feel insignificant – putting things into perspective.”
