Calling All Poets…

We have just found out about the VC Gallery poetry competition and want to share it with you.

The VC Gallery is a voluntary organisation for Veterans and the Community working to reduce isolation through creativity.

The competition, on the subject of Remembrance actually opened on the 9 September, but you still have until  24 October to submit a poem.

Barrry John MBE , the founder of the VC Gallery, hopes that people will give some thought to what Remembrance means to them and commit those thoughts to paper.

The competition has two categories, for the under-15s and the over-15s and will be judged by Welsh poet Helen Grant .

The first prize will be an original art work by Nina Camplin (you can read more about Nina and see some of her work here in this magazine) and a book voucher. Runners-up will receive book bundles. All winners’ work will join the permanent exhibition of Remembrance artwork at the VC Gallery , Bridge Street, Haverfordwest.

Kitty Parsons

Kitty knows that she will always be an incomer, but this is to be her sixth summers. The wet and grey days of winters have not diminished her love of Pembrokeshire, but she is always grateful for the golden light of spring and summer. Her love of the sea sustains her even through the darkest of days and she can often be found at high tide bobbing about in Fishguard harbour at high tide, often with seals in attendance. When not freezing in water she is usually at her computer. She says" has been an opportunity to celebrate this beautiful county and its people. Keep the stories coming. We love to hear from you."
