The VC Gallery, which support service veterans and the wider community, has worked with Touchstone photography since it opened in 2013. Touchstone has been the main photographer for all its events and activities.

But now this award-winning photography company with over 30 years’ experience in commercial, model, wedding, portrait, press and event photography has brought its skills to the Haverfordwest gallery to run a weekly photography club.

The group is open to anyone who has an interest in photography and wants to develop their skills, learning about a wide range of techniques in different locations. Prints will be made available on a cost-price basis.

“It will be useful if members have a camera of some kind – even a phone will do – but we will work with what people have available to them,” a spokesperson said.

The VC Gallery has a history of inspiring and encouraging artists of all ages. Lucy Hinksman, a keen member of the VC who now runs her own photography business, is a prime example, and her work has recently started off a new season of monthly photographic exhibitions designed to inspire and delight. You can read more about Lucy in previous articles here in Pembrokeshire.Online.

The VC Gallery was set up to help service veterans and the wider community, particularly people experiencing mental or physical disabilities, by getting them engaged in a variety of art and activity projects. The aim is to reduce isolation and combat loneliness. Touchstone’s photography workshop is a welcome addition to the many projects it runs in its drop-in centres in Haverfordwest and Pembroke Dock.

The photography club, which has been funded by Hywel Dda Health Board, Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust and Haverfordwest Town Council, takes place on Wednesdays from 11am at the VC Gallery, High Street, Haverfordwest. The group will be out and about photographing diverse subjects, including street life.

Recently a studio was set up in the VC Gallery in Haverfordwest and the group learned about portraiture.

Kitty knows that she will always be an incomer, but this is to be her sixth summers. The wet and grey days of winters have not diminished her love of Pembrokeshire, but she is always grateful for the golden light of spring and summer. Her love of the sea sustains her even through the darkest of days and she can often be found at high tide bobbing about in Fishguard harbour at high tide, often with seals in attendance. When not freezing in water she is usually at her computer. She says" has been an opportunity to celebrate this beautiful county and its people. Keep the stories coming. We love to hear from you."
