A Dream of a Ballet

Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream is getting a sparkling reinterpretation courtesy of Ballet Cymru

On 2 July Ballet Cymru returns to the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven, with its production of Dream, an new adaptation of the classic drama. It promises to be full of the magic and flair of Ballet Cymru’s previous productions which included an adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes.

Ballet Cymru, based in Newport, is a performing arts group known for original and accessible performances of modern ballet, dance and theatre.

Working with award-winning instrumentalist and composer Frank Moon, Ballet Cymru says it has created a magical, gender-bending world of fairies, lovers and bewitching enchantment.

Opening the show are the Duets scholars from Gelliswick VC Primary School, who will be celebrating the end of their three-year scholarship with a special performance. Duets is a dance programme funded by the Arts Council of Wales and the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.

Tickets for Dream are on sale from the Torch Theatre on 01646 695267 or online through www.torchtheatre.co.uk. The performance, at 730pm, is suitable for those aged seven-plus.
