60th Birthday 60km Walk to Raise £6,000

Derek Owen and Lydia May

Tomorrow Derek Owen turns 60 – and to celebrate he will walking 60 kilometres (37.3 miles) around South Pembrokeshire. He will be accompanied by Lydia May from The Three Mariners pub, Tenby, and they aim to raise £6,000 for Paul Sartori.

The Pembrokeshire-based Hospice at Home charity was chosen because it was close to the hearts of both Derek and Lydia: it provided care for Keith May, Derek’s friend and Lydia’s dad, the late landlord of the pub.

The charity walk will start at Tojaz, Stepaside, and finish at The Three Mariners. They will set off at 6am and hope to finish around 8pm; this will be followed by a 1960s disco, live music from the Sleeping Dogs, a charity raffle and a bottle cap draw.

Their Just Giving page is at https://bit.ly/DerekOwen.

Paul Sartori Hospice at Home provides a range of services to Pembrokeshire people living in the final stages of a life-limiting illness, including home nursing care, equipment loan, complementary therapy, bereavement and counselling support, under-18s anticipatory grief and bereavement support, physiotherapy, advance care planning and training.
