Kyla Brox – Child of the Blues

Some people are born to sing the blues… and one of those must be the remarkable Kyla Brox, who will be appearing as part of Tenby Blues Festival this November.

Widely acclaimed as one of the finest soul/blues singers of her generation, Kyla is the daughter of another amazing singer, Victor Brox.

Listening to Kyla sing a slow blues such as If You See Him gave me the same shivers as I had when I saw her dad singing Memory Pain live with the Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation back in the Sixties.

While ace drummer Dunbar went on to achieve rock fame with Frank Zappa, Victor Brox became best known for playing the role of Caiaphas on the original Jesus Christ Superstar album. Now 81, he has long continued to tour with his own band.

Kyla first sang on stage with her dad’s band in 1992, when she was just 12. She hit the road with him the following year.

She will be appearing at Tenby with her husband, virtuoso acoustic guitarist Danny Blomeley.

Kyla Brox will appear on the Acoustic Stage, Tenby RFC, on Saturday 13 November 2021. Full details of Tenby Blues Festival (12-14 November) on
