Pub Campaigners Close to £200,000 Target

Everyone has been hard at work at Y Cross Cas-lai Community Benefit Society with the aim of buying the local pub, the Cross Inn at Hayscastle Cross. They have pulled out all the stops with huge determination and inventiveness and are close to achieving their goal. Below is a letter to supporters from treasurer SARAH LEWIS…

I am proud and delighted to inform you that our share offer has raised an outstanding £192,650 from our community of investors.

This is an incredible show of support for our community enterprise and is within touching distance of our minimum target of £200,000.

The Share Offer Prospectus provided an option to extend the share offer end date of 7 May by a further 14 days until 21 May, to help bridge any funding gap. The board has approved the extension to give any last-minute investors the opportunity to get involved.

If you have friends or family or work colleagues or know of any businesses that may be interested in social impact investing, we invite you to spread the word and encourage them to get involved. The minimum shareholding is £250.

If you would like to increase your own shareholding, please use the extension window to buy additional individual shares, available in £50 increments above your initial shareholding. Any amount, whether from new investors or top-up investments, will make a significant difference and all support is greatly appreciated. If you prefer to spread the cost of your investment, our share instalment scheme allows the minimum £250 shareholding to be purchased over a one-year period in equal instalments. You can also form a syndicate and purchase your shares together.

Every pound raised through the share offer will unlock an opportunity for government matched funding which has the potential to double the share funds raised.

The pub will close in July this year and time really is of the essence. The sooner we reach our funding target, the sooner we can make a formal offer and secure the asset for the community.

Thank you for believing in our project. Your support and investment are vital to our success. The hard work and dedication of the Y Cross team and its many enthusiastic community volunteers is truly phenomenal.

Together we will make this a great success.
