Prayer for a New Year

A small request before sleeping
Before the old year turns over and loses itself in a new beginning.
A small request to carry like a torch
A flicker of brightness to light the first few steps we take
Through the fearful possibilities of a dark night
And an uncertain new dawn.
A small request,
Brothers and sisters
A request for the blessing of kindness
An open hand, not a closed fist.
An open mind
Even when the darkness inside threatens to overwhelm us
And the fear is a time bomb ticking in the place of our hearts
A small request
That we remember in time
Before the cold words loosen our tongues
Before bitterness spins from our lips
Before our fears damn one another
A remembering
That this is not who we are.
In our bright shining
In our faiths and our forgiveness
In our glory and magnificence
One small request
That each of us allow the possibility
Of all we truly are to set the world on fire with love.

Kitty has forgotten how long she has been here now but she loves Pembrokeshire for its beauty and it's people. She spends her time searching out stories for, swimming in the sea , drawing and painting as Snorkelfish and eating cake. She says " has been an opportunity to celebrate this beautiful county and its people. Keep the stories coming. We love to hear from you."
