Images of Now and Zen

Barry Chantler, who lives in Fishguard, had his first camera when he was 16. He has enjoyed photography since then, but over the past 18 months he has been really exploring his art and sharing it with the public.

“I want to do something personal with the landscape that inspires me,” Barry says,” something that allows me to take a different approach.”
Barry clearly loves Pembrokeshire and is particularly drawn to places such as Strumble Head.
“At the moment,” he says, “I am particularly inspired by images in the space between sunset and the dark. It’s the quiet time. You can bring in some Zen.”

Barry has also been experimenting with more abstract work. He says that he layers up to 12 images and then uses Kadinsky Art in Narberth to print off the images when he is happy with them.

“I see processing the images as a tool, a paintbrush,” he says. His exhibitions have proved popular in the area with the most recent being at Oriel y Parc for a full six weeks.
