New Life for Old Buildings

Are you a Pembrokeshire homeowner living in an older property? A series of workshops over the coming months might be just what you need to learn about repairing and maintaining your older building and improving its energy efficiency.

As part of the Heart of Pembrokeshire project, Pembrokeshire County Council and the Tywi Centre are making training available.

Funded by the UK Government, the courses are free and aim to provide information that will help to preserve the cultural and historical heritage of Wales.

The Tywi Centre has been engaged in providing heritage training throughout Wales since 2009, and 2025 will see a number of pilot workshops becoming available.

16 October is the date for the first of this year’s courses and it can be booked online via Eventbrite.This workshop will be online between 9.30am and 4pm and is about making an application for Listed Building Consent

The second workshop will be on 18 and 19 November, 9am-5pm, at Haverhub, Haverfordwest. This two-day course is on Repair and Maintenance for Traditional (Pre-1919) Buildings.

4 December, 9.30am-4pm, at Haverhub, Haverfordwest, is a workshop on Maintenance, Repair and Energy Efficiency in Traditional Buildings.

10 and 11 December sees a two-day course at Scolton Manor and Penrhos Cottage on day one, and Tywi Centre, Carmarthen, on day two. This course is on Working with Lime in Buildings,
