Croeso Cynnes yn Disgwyl Pobl Ifanc yn Nhymor y Gwanwyn Theatr Ieuenctid y Torch

Ydy eich plentyn ym Mlwyddyn 3 neu 4 yr Ysgol? Ym mis Ionawr eleni, mae Theatr Torch yn agor ei drysau ar gyfer Tymor y Gwanwyn, ac rydym yn chwilio am aelodau newydd i ymuno â’n carfan ieuengaf.

Efallai eich bod wedi gweld cynyrchiadau llwyddiannus diweddar fel The Bangers and Chips Explosion, Ravers a The Wind in the Willows Ond nid perfformio yn unig yw nod Theatr Ieuenctid y Torch, fel yr eglurodd Tim Howe, sy’n arwain y rhaglen:

“Mae ein sesiynau’n helpu pobl ifanc i feithrin eu hyder mewn lle diogel a chefnogol. Rydym yn cefnogi datblygiad sgiliau cymdeithasol drwy wneud ffrindiau newydd a dysgu gweithio fel tîm. Yn ogystal ag annog ein haelodau i ddefnyddio eu dychymyg i fynd i’r afael â heriau creadigol. Yn bwysicaf oll, mae pob sesiwn yn llawn egni a chwerthin.”

Mae’r sesiynau ar gyfer y grŵp oedran ieuengaf yn digwydd nos Fawrth rhwng 4:30pm a 6:00pm. Ychwanegodd Tim: “Dyma’r gweithgarwch ar ôl ysgol delfrydol i bob math o bobl ifanc. P’un a ydyn nhw’n berfformiwr naturiol, ychydig yn swil, neu ddim ond am roi cynnig ar rywbeth newydd, mae lle iddyn nhw yma.”

Tra bod y grwpiau iau yn meithrin eu sgiliau, mae grŵp hynaf y Theatr Ieuenctid yn dechrau ymarferion ar gyfer eu drama sydd ar ddod, Sycamore Gap (a noddir gan Awdurdod Parc Cenedlaethol Sir Benfro), fel rhan o raglen Connections y National Theatr ledled y DU.

“Un o’r cyfleoedd perfformio hynny rydyn ni’n ei gynnig yw cynhyrchiad National Theatre Connections,” meddai Tim. “Drwy gydol eu hamser gyda ni, gall pobl ifanc gymryd rhan ym mhopeth o waith lleisiol ar gyfer ein pantomeim i arddangosfeydd anffurfiol tymhorol a’n cynyrchiadau haf blynyddol ysblennydd. Mae Theatr Ieuenctid y Torch yn rhan hanfodol o’n rhaglen flynyddol o theatr fyw.”

Ond, beth yw barn y bobl ifanc am Theatr Ieuenctid y Torch?

“Mynd i Theatr Ieuenctid y Torch yw fy hoff ran o’r wythnos. Mae’n ddoniol, yn groesawgar, ac yn lle bach i ffwrdd o’r byd sy’n eich gwahodd i adael i fynd a bod yn rhydd,” meddai un brwdfrydig. “Mae’r Torch yn golygu llawer i ni ac mae wedi ein helpu i greu cysylltiadau ac yn rhoi cyfleoedd na fyddem byth wedi’u cael fel arall,”

meddai un arall.Mae grwpiau’n cyfarfod yn wythnosol gyda blynyddoedd ysgol 3 a 4 yn cyfarfod ar DDYDD MAWRTH rhwng 4:30pm a 6:00pm; blynyddoedd ysgol 5 a 6 yn cyfarfod ar DDYDD MERCHER rhwng 4:30pm a 6:00pm; blynyddoedd ysgol 7, 8, a 9 yn cyfarfod ar DDYDD MAWRTH rhwng 6.30pm ac 8:00pm gyda blynyddoedd ysgol 10, 11, 12 a 13 yn cyfarfod ar DDYDD MERCHER rhwng 7:30pm a 9:30pm.

Is your child in School Year 3 or 4? This January, the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven, is throwing open its doors for the Spring Term and looking for new members.

You may have seen recent hit productions such as The Bangers and Chips Explosion, Ravers and The Wind in the Willows. But Torch Youth Theatre is not just about performing, as Tim Howe, who leads the programme, explains:

“Our sessions help young people build their confidence in a safe, supportive space. We support the development of social skills by making new friends and learning to work as a team. As well as encouraging our members to use their imagination to tackle creative challenges. Most importantly, every session is packed with energy and laughter.”

The sessions for the youngest age group run on Tuesdays from 4.30pm to 6pm. Tim adds: “It is the ideal after-school activity for all sorts of young people. Whether they are a born performer, a little bit shy, or just looking to try something new, there is a place for them here.”

While the younger groups build their skills, the Youth Theatre’s oldest group is beginning rehearsals for its upcoming play, Sycamore Gap (sponsored by the Pembrokeshire National Park Authority), as part of the National Theatre’s UK-wide Connections programme.

“The National Theatre Connections production is just one performance opportunity we provide,” says Tim. “Throughout their time with us, young people can take part in everything from voiceover work for our pantomime to termly informal showcases and our spectacular annual summer productions. Torch Youth Theatre is a vital part of our yearly programme of live theatre.”

What do the young people think? “Going to Torch Youth Theatre is my favourite part of the week. It is funny, welcoming, and a little space away from the world which invites you to let go and be free,” said one. “Torch means a lot to us and it has helped us create bonds and gives us opportunities we never would have had otherwise,” said another.

Groups meet weekly with school years 3 and 4 meeting on Tuesdays 4:30–6pm; school years 5 and 6 on Wednesdays 4.30–6pm; school years 7, 8, and 9 on Tuesdays 6.30–8pm; with school years 10, 11, 12 and 13 on Wednesdays 7.30–9.30pm.
