Home away from home for pets.

Nash Mountain Farm

Award-winning boarding kennels and cattery.

Choosing somewhere to leave your pets when you go away is never easy. When I lived in the north of the county I took Cwtch Collie to Llanstinian kennels, but was hoping to find another great place in the south too. Winner of 2018’s Dog Friendly Pembrokeshire for the best caravan holiday was Nash Mountain Farm in Sardis, so that seemed a good place to try out.

Julie and Steve Ayers are fourth generation sheep farmers here and very committed animal lovers too. With acres of fields and woodland, dogs staying at the kennels get plenty of fresh air and exercise as well as luxurious kennels to rest and sleep in. Dogs are walked twice daily and have an indoor play area too.

When I went on a first visit with Cwtch a couple of years ago, I was completely reassured by Julie’s warm welcome and ever since Cwtch can never wait to see her, even if the sound of other dogs barking has made her a bit reticent when walking up the lane to the farm!

Lyra kitten

So , not long after, Julie brought over a kitten to show me and even looked after her in her farmhouse until I could take her home a few days later – named Lyra, this little scrap is doing well and has even been back to the cattery while I was away for a few days!

Quite how Julie manages to give such good attention to all her boarders as well as working on the farm with Steve and their son ,Rob, I do not know. Making a living on a farm is not easy and they also have two lovely holiday caravans to let out, where any number of dogs are welcome to stay too.You cannot miss finding the farm as you go along from Troopers Inn through Sardis – look out for the wind turbine!

Cats and dogs can be booked into the kennels and cattery all year round , with collection and drop-off times of 9-9.30am and 5-.30-6pm – contact Julie to make a booking and ensure you take along proof of up-to-date vaccinations on your visit. What you can be sure your pets will receive is lots of love and attention!
