Seeking  a career change as her children had grown up and left home, Rachel developed a unique and original business as a photographer who producing her own goods using the images. Printed on a variety of items , her wildlife and landscape photography make high quality gifts that manage to really capture the special character of the county she loves.

When asked how she got started Rachel explained:-

I first started taking an interest in photography when my husband bought himself a good camera (A Canon 6D). John quickly found that he wasn’t very interested in taking the camera off automatic mode. I, however, to my surprise loved experimenting and was ‘hooked’ on photography within a very short space of time. I’m very lucky that John has supported me in my business wholeheartedly and I quickly traded in his camera for a 7D MK II and now have managed to get myself a 5D Mk III. The 1DX appeals to me as it’s focussing quality is second to none but at over £5K it’s still on my wish list! Over the years I’ve invested in continuous training and workshops and added to my collection of lenses and filters so that I can get the shots that I want of Pembrokeshire. I’m still learning (as I think every photographer is) and will be going to Skomer Island in May with some world-class photographers which will stretch my imagination and skills again.

Rachel watches the weather from her home overlooking St Brides Bay and pays attention to the forecasts so she can get out and about with her camera when the weather and light is just right – sometimes this takes patience and several visits to get the images she seeks. During 2018’s unusual snow, Rachel was out very early to make sure she could capture some very unusual images – we don’t get snow very often this far west!

Supplying over 40 local outlets, Rachel also sells from her website and can produce bespoke items for customers using particular images they have chosen. With no package and postal charges for UK customers, she hopes that the online side of her business will grow  and she is always coming up with new ideas for items. In her tiny home office, she produces most of the goods herself and has a fascinating array of machinery and printing equipment as well as a vast stock to take out across the county to shops and outlets.

When she is not out with her camera, Rachel loves to enjoy Pembrokeshire and to be out on the water or , as often as possible, on Skomer Island – her favourite place. Or maybe that is Marloes Sands beach? Here at Pembrokeshire Online we are lucky to be able to use some of Rachel’s images and she has made our ID badges and designed our business cards too. Passionate about the local economy, Rachel always aims to obtain supplies for her goods as locally as she can.

Whether you live here and would like to find a special gift for yourself, to give as a present or to adorn your holiday accommodation, then I would recommend browsing Rachel’s website and let her know if  you would like something particular made for you!
