Taith Gerdded Sain Santes Non yn mynd â gwrandawyr ar daith at ‘galon y byd Celtaidd’

Mae podlediad newydd yn rhoi cyfle i bobl o bob cwr o’r byd ddilyn olion traed pererinion hynafol a phrofi straeon, cyfrinachau a synau Capel Santes Non a’r Ffynnon Sanctaidd, lle tybir y cafodd nawddsant Cymru ei eni.

Mae Taith Gerdded Sain Santes Non, sydd wedi’i chreu gan yr awdur a’r darlledwr enwog o Gymru Horatio Clare, yn mynd â gwrandawyr ar daith ar gwch ac ar droed, gan ddatgelu tirwedd ysbrydoledig sy’n gorwedd rhwng y môr a Tyddewi, dinas leiaf Prydain.

Mae’r daith sain hon, sy’n cael ei ryddhau ar Ddydd Gŵyl Santes Non, yn seiliedig ar leisiau artistiaid, ffermwyr, haneswyr, cerddorion, morwyr ac awduron sy’n siarad am eu perthynas â Santes Non, y môr, y dirwedd, yr hanes, y chwedlau, y creadigrwydd a’r ymdeimlad ysbrydol sy’n perthyn i’r lle.

Dywedodd Horatio Clare: “Roedd creu’r Daith Gerdded Sain hon o amgylch Tyddewi, un o’r llefydd harddaf ar y ddaear, yn brofiad hudolus a hyfryd, yn llawn syrpreisys, cyfoeth, a gogoniant yr hanes a diwylliannau sy’n dyddio’n ôl miloedd o flynyddoedd, ond sy’n parhau i fodoli hyd heddiw.

“Fel brodor o Dde Cymru sy’n caru ac yn adnabod Sir Benfro fel cefn ei law, braint arbennig oedd darganfod a chysegru straeon, bywydau a hanes y lle arbennig hwn.”

Mae’r awdur/darlledwr Laura Barton yn ymuno â Horatio, sy’n dod â phersbectif awdur a chwilfrydedd teithiwr i’r daith sain wrth iddynt gerdded ar hyd Llwybr yr Arfordir i ymweld â Chapel Santes Non ar fore braf o haf.

Ceir cyfraniadau gan y capten llong Ffion Rees, yr awduron o Gymru Jon Gower a Brenig Davies, y cantorion Mike Chant, Roy Jones, Lis Cousens a Rudi Lloyd Benson, yr artistiaid Jackie Morris a Becky Lloyd, y ffermwyr Elspeth Cotton a Robert Davies, yr ysgolhaig Dean Sarah Rowland Jones, yr archaeolegydd morwrol Julian Whitewright a’r morwr Graham da Gama Howells.

Ychwanegodd Swyddog Dehongli Awdurdod y Parc Cenedlaethol, Rhowan Alleyne: “Wedi’i ysbrydoli gan deithiau’r gorffennol, mae Taith Gerdded Sain Santes Non yn brofiad cyfoethog a myfyriol a fydd yn arwain gwrandawyr o bob cwr o’r byd i glogwyni trawiadol Sir Benfro.”

Cafodd y daith sain ei recordio ym mis Awst 2021 ac mae ar gael i’w llwytho i lawr am ddim oddi ar wefan Awdurdod Parc Cenedlaethol Arfordir Penfro. Cafodd y daith sain ei hariannu gan Cysylltiadau Hynafol, prosiect sy’n adfywio’r cysylltiadau hynafol rhwng Gogledd Wexford yn Iwerddon a Gogledd Sir Benfro, yn ogystal ag Iwerddon a Chymru, er mwyn creu twristiaeth gynaliadwy yn y rhanbarthau hyn a rhyngddynt.

Mae Cysylltiadau Hynafol yn cael ei ariannu gan Gronfa Datblygu Rhanbarthol Ewrop drwy raglen Cydweithredu Cymru Iwerddon. Partneriaid y prosiect yw Cyngor Sir Penfro, Awdurdod Parc Cenedlaethol Arfordir Penfro, Cyngor Sir Wexford a Visit Wexford.

The ruin of the Chapel of St Non, close to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, a few miles from the City of St Davids

A new podcast is giving people from all over the world the chance to follow in the footsteps of ancient pilgrims and experience the stories, secrets and sounds of St Non’s Chapel and Holy Well, said to be the birthplace of Wales’ patron saint.

The St Non’s Sound Walk, created by acclaimed Welsh writer and broadcaster Horatio Clare, takes listeners on a journey by boat and on foot, revealing an inspirational landscape wedged between the sea and Britain’s smallest city, St Davids.

Released on St Non’s Day, this audio tour de force is built around the voices of artists, farmers, historians, musicians, seafarers and writers who speak about their relationships to St Non’s, the sea, the landscape, the history, the myths, and the creativity and spirituality of the place.

Horatio Clare said: “Making this Sound Walk around St Non’s and St Davids, one of the most beautiful places on earth, was a bewitching and beautiful experience, full of surprise, richness, and the depths and tints of histories and cultures which stretch back thousands of years, and which are vibrantly alive today.

“As a native of South Wales who has known and loved Pembrokeshire all my life, it was a particular privilege to discover and solicit the stories, lives and histories of this place.”

Horatio is joined by writer/broadcaster Laura Barton, who brings a writer’s eye and a traveller’s curiosity to the sound walk as they stroll along the Coast Path to visit St Non’s on a sunny summer’s morning.

There are contributions from sea captain Ffion Rees, Welsh writers Jon Gower and Brenig Davies, singers Mike Chant, Roy Jones, Lis Cousens and Rudi Lloyd Benson, artists Jackie Morris and Becky Lloyd, farmers Elspeth Cotton and Robert Davies, scholar Dean Sarah Rowland Jones, marine archaeologist Julian Whitewright and seafarer Graham da Gama Howells.

National Park Authority interpretation officer Rhowan Alleyne said: “Inspired by journeys of the past, the St Non’s Sound Walk is a rich and meditative experience that will carry listeners to the curving cliffs of Pembrokeshire from wherever they are in the world.”

Recorded in August 2021 and available to download for free from the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority website, the Sound Walk was funded by Ancient Connections, a project that is reviving the ancient links between North Wexford in Ireland and North Pembrokeshire, as well as Ireland and Wales, in order to create sustainable tourism in and between these regions.

Ancient Connections is funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Ireland Wales Co-operation programme. The project partners are Pembrokeshire County Council, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, Wexford County Council and Visit Wexford.
