Griff Rhys Jones Visits the Torch Theatre With His New One Man Show ‘An Evening With Griff Rhys Jones’ To Benefit Pembrokeshire’s Young People
Patron of Milford Haven’s Torch Theatre Griff Rhys Jones paid a visit to the venue as tickets went on sale for his one-man show there on Sunday 13 November.
All proceeds from his two-hour show will be split between two local charities: Torch Youth Theatre and POINT Youth Centre in Fishguard, of which Griff is also a patron.
Griff said: “I’m delighted to be coming to the Torch to perform my new show. Many of you will know Pembrokeshire is very close to my heart and it’s great to be able to support young people by being a patron to two important local charities which I’ve been involved with for a while.
“This afternoon I spoke with young people from POINT Youth Centre to learn more about how they are supported and encouraged by their involvement with POINT. I’ve worked in theatre in the past with young people and I know how much they benefit and learn from working together as a team, and the skills and confidence this gives them. Two great local causes – it’ll be an exciting show – especially for me as I’ll be making it up as I go along!”
Griff’s show will include tales and reminiscences about his long career. The second half of the show will be an opportunity for audience members to ask him questions.
Zoe Davies, general manager of POINT said: “It is so great that Griff has offered to do this show for the benefit of young people in Pembrokeshire. POINT is a charity that has been providing drop-in services to the young
people of North Pembrokeshire between the ages of 11 and 25 for more than 20 years. The money raised will be vital for us to continue our six-day-per-week core services.”
