Season’s Greetings to You All

So, if you are reading this, you will have made it to Christmas Day. Whatever you might think about the festival, it seems to me that we could do with celebrating every little milestone on this weird life journey we have undertaken.
If you are alone and lonely perhaps you might consider some of the difficulties that many families will be facing. It isn’t necessarily all smiles and snuggles under the mistletoe. On the worst side, domestic abuse is much more likely in many homes. On the lighter side, but no less something of a downer, there are those difficult relatives families must include, who have a talent for making the day seem like a battle.
Having company isn’t necessarily the rosy experience we see in the ads on TV. Consider that if you are alone, you can watch what you want, eat what you want, and snooze and snore the afternoon away without having to share the remote control or the comfiest spot on the sofa.
When I was a kid, the worst thing we would encounter on the day, was the batteries not fitting or running out of juice, so our toys were unusable. Nowadays when Amazon brings Christmas in a box, delays or broken gifts are more likely. Worse, with the high expectations that children have now, the gifts that do get opened are deemed unacceptable.
We sincerely hope that the whole festival season is a bright delight for you and everyone you care about but, if it doesn’t quite work out, take a moment to consider the woman who liberally sprayed her Christmas tree with what she thought was a spray to deter cats from chewing on things. It didn’t take long for her to realise that she had made the mistake of mixing the spray bottle with the catnip one. Anyone who has cats knows how much they love a Christmas tree, just imagine the chaos with the catnip enhancement.
Oh, and while we are on the subject, a friend told me about the time she took a big bite out of what looked like a tasty-looking chocolate treat on Christmas morning only to discover quite quickly that it was a decorative fizzy soap bar. She said that the taste lingered all day.
Here at Pembrokeshire.Online we hope that, whatever the day brings, you can rise above the tragedies and relish the delights… that you find something to remember for years to come that warms you and delights you and sits in your heart like a bright jewel.
A very merry Christmas, everyone.
