Mobile Bank Comes to a Halt

The mobile bank service provided by Lloyds after many of its branches closed is coming to an end. The mobile service visited certain towns and villages every two weeks.
Since 2016 Lloyds has closed branches in St Davids, Fishguard, Newport, Newcastle Emlyn, Tenby and Milford Haven, replacing them with a mobile branch service at Tenby’s Five Arches Car Park, Milford Haven’s Tesco Superstore, Tregaron’s Abergwesyn Road Car Park, Newcastle Emlyn’s Mart Car Park, Newport’s Golden Lion Pub and Fishguard West Street Car Park.
Now that service, which included options to cash cheques, withdraw cash, pay bills, send money abroad and make enquiries, is ending.
From 13 May Tenby, and Milford Haven mobile service will cease.The Tregaron and Newcastle Emlyn services will follow suit on 22 May, with Newport and Fishguard services finishing on 28 May.
Lloyds says that 34 per cent of customers using the mobile branch on the route that included Pembrokeshire are over 75.
The use of the services is not enough, it says, though they are seen as vital by those using them. Lloyds is advising that a community banker will be available in Milford Haven when the mobiles stop. It also suggests internet banking and the Post Office as options.
