Do Transport Problems Stop People Working in Tenby?

Targedu rhwystrau rhag teithio i’r gwaith yn Ninbych-y-pysgod fel rhan o ymchwil newydd

Mae arolwg newydd dan arweiniad Awdurdod Parc Cenedlaethol Arfordir Penfro yn galw ar fusnesau twristiaeth, gweithwyr a cheiswyr gwaith i helpu i ganfod rhwystrau trafnidiaeth sy’n effeithio ar fynediad at waith tymhorol yn Ninbych-y-pysgod.

Mae’r prosiect yn rhan o ddull ehangach yr Awdurdod o hyrwyddo trafnidiaeth gynaliadwy, ac mae’n cael ei ariannu drwy raglen ‘Tirweddau Cynaliadwy, Lleoedd Cynaliadwy’ Llywodraeth Cymru. Mae’n cael ei ddarparu gan Martin Higgitt Associates, sef yr ymgynghorwyr trafnidiaeth, a bydd yn cael ei gynnal drwy gydol tymor ymwelwyr 2025, gan ddod i ben yn ystod yr hydref.

Mae’r ymchwil yn canolbwyntio ar yr heriau sy’n wynebu busnesau wrth geisio recriwtio staff, a chan unigolion sydd yn gweithio yn Ninbych-y-pysgod ar hyn o bryd, neu sydd eisiau gweithio yno, ond sy’n ei chael hi’n anodd cael mynediad at drafnidiaeth. Bydd y canlyniadau’n helpu i asesu atebion posibl, fel gwasanaethau bysiau i weithwyr, cynlluniau rhannu tacsi, neu drefniadau rhannu lifft.

Dywedodd y Cynghorydd Sam Skyrme-Blackhall, Cynghorydd dros Ward Dde Dinbych-y-pysgod ac Aelod o Awdurdod y Parc: “Gallai’r ymchwil hon helpu i nodi faint o broblem yw mynediad teithio i staff sy’n cael swyddi, ac i fusnesau sy’n recriwtio staff – a sut y gallai mynd i’r afael â’r problemau hyn helpu busnesau Dinbych-y-pysgod i ffynnu. Wrth wneud hynny, gall roi gwybodaeth ddefnyddiol i lefydd eraill ar hyd arfordir Sir Benfro, a’r tu hwnt.”

Elfen arall o’r astudiaeth fydd archwilio’r potensial ar gyfer gwell gwasanaethau bws i ymwelwyr ar hyd coridor y B4318, gan wella mynediad at gyrchfannau allweddol fel Heatherton World of Activities, The Dinosaur Park, Manor Wildlife Park, Great Wedlock Deer Park a Chastell Caeriw.

Mae dau arolwg wedi’u lansio fel rhan o’r prosiect. Mae’r Arolwg Teithio Cyflogwyr ar gyfer busnesau twristiaeth a lletygarwch yn Ninbych-y-pysgod a’r cyffiniau sydd wedi wynebu heriau staffio oherwydd problemau trafnidiaeth. Mae’r Arolwg Teithio Gweithwyr ar gyfer unrhyw un sy’n gweithio yn Ninbych-y-pysgod ar hyn o bryd, neu sydd wedi gwrthod gwaith yno oherwydd anawsterau teithio. Mae hefyd yn agored i geiswyr gwaith sydd wedi ystyried gwaith tymhorol yn y dref, ond a oedd yn teimlo bod trafnidiaeth yn rhwystr.

Mae cyflogwyr yn cael eu hannog i rannu’r arolwg gweithwyr gyda’u staff. Mae’r ddau arolwg yn cymryd llai na 10 munud i’w llenwi, ac maent yn cynnwys yr opsiwn o gael sgwrs ddilynol fer gyda’r tîm ymchwil. Bydd yr holl ddata personol yn cael ei drin yn gyfrinachol a’i ddileu erbyn 31 Mawrth 2026.

A new survey led by Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority is calling on tourism businesses, employees and jobseekers to help identify transport barriers affecting access to seasonal work in Tenby.

The project is part of the Authority’s wider approach to promoting sustainable transport and is funded through the Welsh Government’s Sustainable Landscapes, Sustainable Places programme. It is being delivered by transport consultants Martin Higgitt Associates and will run across the 2025 visitor season, concluding in the autumn.

The research focuses on the challenges faced by businesses trying to recruit staff, and by individuals who currently work – or would like to work – in Tenby but struggle with transport access. The results will help assess potential solutions such as worker’ bus services, shared taxi schemes or lift-sharing arrangements.

Cllr Sam Skyrme-Blackhall, councillor for Tenby South Ward and a member of the Park Authority, said: “This research could help identify how big a problem travel access is in staff accessing jobs and businesses recruiting staff – and how resolving these issues could help Tenby businesses to prosper. In doing so, it may give some useful insights to other places along the Pembrokeshire coast and beyond.”

A further strand of the study will be exploring the potential for enhanced visitor bus services along the B4318 corridor, improving access to key destinations such as Heatherton World of Activities, the Dinosaur Park, Manor Wildlife Park, Great Wedlock Deer Park and Carew Castle.

Two surveys have been launched as part of the project: the Employer Travel Survey is for tourism and hospitality businesses in Tenby and the surrounding area that have faced staffing challenges due to transport issues; the Employee Travel Survey is for anyone who currently works in Tenby or has turned down work there because of travel difficulties. It is also open to jobseekers who have considered seasonal roles in the town but found transport to be a barrier.

Employers are encouraged to share the employee survey with their staff. Both surveys take less than 10 minutes to complete and include the option of a short follow-up conversation with the research team. It is said that all personal data will be treated confidentially and deleted by 31 March 2026.
