Don’t Forget Blue Badge Renewal

Blue Badge holders need to check the renewal date on their badge. If it’s September or October, the renewal date isn’t automatic and you could be looking at a £1,000 fine if you don’t apply in plenty of time.

If your badge is due to expire in September or October, it’s not too early to apply now.

In fact, you can renew up to 12 weeks before your badge expires.

Renewing online is easiest for most people. Go to gov.uk and have the following to hand :

Proof of identity (passport, driving licence or birth certificate)

Proof of address (council tax bill or government letter)

Proof of benefits (if applicable)

National Insurance number

Details of your current Blue Badge

A recent digital head-and-shoulders photo

An email with payment instructions will be sent to you from your local council. It shouldn’t take more than 10 days and is free in Wales.
