Bobby Moves to Fishguard
Pembrokeshire.Online relies on contributions of articles and stories from our lovely readers, but we have never had an article from a pooch before. Yes, the following came to us from Bobby. Bobby maintains that he is a dog and that he has just moved to Fishguard. He has furnished us with images of himself, so who are we to argue? Who’s a handsome boy, then, Bobby? Yes, of course, it’s you and thanks for the following:

It’s all a bit strange. I’m used to going to new places with my mum, but we always go home again either that same day or a few days later. It’s fun, and I don’t really mind where I am, as long as she’s with me.
But this time… it’s strange. We’ve been here for lots of sleeps now, and we don’t seem to be going back home anytime soon. Mum even brought all our stuff with us, even my bestest treats and favourite toys.
Did I mention that it’s strange? We go for nice walks in new places. My favourite one is along a path nearby. If you look on one side, there’s lots of water. I heard my mum call it ‘sea’. On the other is a lot of grass and weeds and brambles.
One weed smelled very interesting the other day. Another dog had left a long and complicated message on it. But mum told me that it’s called a nettle and I might sting my nose, and that I had to keep walking, so I couldn’t smell the whole message. She can be so annoying!

I miss my friends from next door. I hear them barking sometimes when my mum speaks to our friend on the funny rectangular light-up noise-maker thing she carries around with her, like I carry my bestest ball. I think it must be her bestest toy.
But I meet new friends nearly every day. There’s lots of nice dogs we see on our walks, and they never mind me having a good sniff of their undercarriage. Mum talks to their human and they let us sniff each other as much as we like. They dont play like my friends, though, and never come to visit me.
Something else is strange too. There’s so many humans around! Where we used to be, I knew every person and every dog. Here, there’s different people walking past the window every day and I don’t know any of them. I bark to warn mum because they could be dangerous, but she says I have to use my quiet voice. Before, I only had to use my quiet voice at night. But she was very happy with me earlier when I did my special bark and she realised someone was at the door.
I think we might live here now. It’s a bit scary and there’s so many new things I have to learn and to find out. Sometimes I get a bit frightened and don’t know if I can learn everything, but mum keeps telling me that I’m a good boy, and I’ve been getting extra treats.
I think I can get used to it, after all.
Then it won’t be strange anymore!
