How Are Your Feet?

How are your feet?

To be perfectly honest, I rarely notice the condition of mine, but I have a friend who is an expert on the care and maintenance of one’s trotters. Helen offers great advice based on her experience as a foot care practitioner.

Helen’s business is Mind, Body and Sole and you can book her services and have her come to your house for a proper pampering.

Meanwhile, as winter bites, she advises that you remove hard, dry skin with a foot file before applying what she calls “proper foot cream” and soaking is a good idea to  softens nails before a good trim.

Helen advises: “The cream must contain 10 pr cent urea if it is a proper one for the feet and you should put socks on to warm the feet and help it soak in. After, keep feet dry in good boots or shoes.

“It’s a good idea to keep nails short during winter and remember to file nails in one direction to smooth the edges.

“If you are a fan of nail varnish, it’s a good idea to leave it off now that winter is here and, instead, oil around the toes with nail oil to thoroughly nourish those tootsies.”

Helen is not a fan of walking around barefoot: “This encourages hard skin and gives no support.

“If you have a callus, corns or pain, consider consulting a foot care specialist.” she says and you could do a lot worse than drop her a message on Facebook on Mind, Body and Sole or email her: enquiries@mindbodyandsole.org.uk.
