Who are Sonia and Raymond?

Someone spotted this and posted the picture on Facebook. They were curious about Sonia and Raymond and their sign on the  apple tree close to the Nevern, between the estuary and the coast path, not far from the Iron Bridge.

We are curious too. Who were/are Sonia and Raymond, and did their love last?
