I am sure that all Pembrokeshire folk know by now that Withybush Hospital A&E is under pressure. The health board is asking us all to be considerate if we plan calling up health services across all sites. If you are a visitor to Pembrokeshire, you are asked to take special note of the current situation in the county.
The appeal from the health board comes with the warning that considerable pressure on services means we must be willing to consider other services such as NHS 111 if we are in need of medical help. The board says this is the best way to ensure we receive the correct advice when we need it most.
It says minor injuries, illnesses and ailments that are not a threat to life but need treatment as soon as possible can be referred to pharmacies.
More urgent issues can be referred any time of the day or night to NHS 111. If your emergency is of a mental health nature, you are advised to call NHS 111 and choose option 2.
999 is of course the number for an immediate life-threatening situation.
