Campaign To End Loneliness: New Jobs
We have been following the Campaign to End Loneliness for some time. We have received the following message from its director, Robin Hewings, on its plans for the future and its intention to recruit new workers...
We have begun the year with a new collaboration – we are joining the What Works Centre for Wellbeing, which will be our host organisation.
It has done excellent work on loneliness over the years and we have worked hard to be complementary to each other in our contributions to action and knowledge on loneliness, civil society, community and connection. We are both delighted that we will now be able to bring these together.
We will expand our focus to loneliness across all ages: reducing loneliness in children, young people and working-age adults, as well as people in later life.
An early fruit of this partnership is that we are both working with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport to create a new support network, information centre and community of practice for anyone in any sector working to reduce loneliness.
We’ve got a lot more planned for 2021, including more Research and Policy Hubs, learning from the pandemic, and events to share practical learning in the community of organisations that care about loneliness.
In 2021, we will be 10 years old. There are many people and organisations that have helped us get here, but now is a time when we should give a special mention to Independent Age which hosted and generously funded us and put in a lot of work to help us move to the What Works Centre for Wellbeing. I would also like to give particular and personal thanks to the brilliant team who worked for the campaign over the past years and who have helped us to reach this exciting point.
