Just a few steps from the quiet evening-grey streets of Milford Haven, there is a world of hot gossipy humour and outrageous colour – every Thursday.
That’s when the Boulevard Showbar in Charles Street hosts its drag nights featuring the loud and lovely Miss Kitty.
The colour isn’t just supplied by the stage lights and Miss Kitty’s far from subtle wardrobe – the lady’s language, too, is extremely colourful.
“You ought to know that I’m not politically correct,” she warns at the beginning of the show. “And if you’re not happy with that, write a letter to someone who gives a f***.”
In print that may look fairly brutal, but lines like this – when delivered in person – are so whipsmart sharp that they defy you not to laugh.
I won’t give away too much more – apart from to advise you that you are probably unlikely to leave Miss Kitty’s presence before she has grilled you very publicly about your private life.
She will also belt out anthems such as Big Spender and We Are Family – and, of course, I Will Survive. And you will definitely be up and dancing – you won’t have much choice about that.
Miss Kitty’s foul-mouthed fun is pretty much guaranteed to bring the house down. And although the house wasn’t that full on the night I was there, she still managed to get the joint – and every one of us – jumping.
Thursdays Are A Drag with Miss Kitty takes place every Thursday at the Boulevard Showbar, Charles Street, Milford Haven SA73 2AE; 7.30pm for 830pm.
