The VC Gallery Says Thank You to Volunteers
As part of its Jubilee events, the VC Gallery is planning a big day of celebrations on 2 June It is honouring the work of the many volunteers who are the lifeblood of the VC. Big Thursday boasts oodles of fun for all starting at 11.30am with promises of lunch, a barbecue and music. DJ Susan, one of the volunteers, will be presiding over the decks, and other musicians will entertain the party.
The VC is known throughout Pembrokeshire for its projects and workshops that aim to engage people of all ages. It doesn’t only work with veterans but provide activities and support for anyone with mental or physical disabilities, young or elderly, and anyone who feels alone, disadvantaged or isolated.
Big Thursday, at the charity’s new premises in Pembroke Dock is the second Jubilee event that has been funded out of the Transforming Towns grant from Pembrokeshire County Council.
The veterans’ breakfast that the VC held on 28 May,, the first to be held at its new premises, welcomed 30 or so veterans, their families and special guests Spinola Pickwell, and Stephen Sullivan from the charity Adseriad Recovery.
Steph Cross, manager for the VC said, of the event: “We had a lovely breakfast and get-together, which everyone enjoyed and we had the added pleasure of the presentation of a plaque from HMS Pembrokeshire. The Royal Navy ship had been docked in the harbour and a representative came along and joined in the fun. We are hoping our Big Thursday event on 2 June will be even better. The volunteers who give their time and energy to the VC Gallery are amazing and we are delighted to be able to take this opportunity to say a big thank you.”
