West End in Wales Returns

Pembrokeshire’s Limelight School for Performing Arts holds its annual West End in Wales workshop on Thursday 13 April with West End performer Teleri Hughes, star of the hit musical Heathers.

Held at FF Dancers Studio in Haverfordwest, the two-hour workshop, suitable for all abilities, aged eight to 18, will focus on performing and singing skills, followed by the opportunity for participants to ask Teleri questions about her career and work in the industry.

Teleri also appears as Heather McNamara in the cinema release of Heathers which will be showing at the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven, the week before the workshop.

The workshop has been organised by Limelight MD Angharad Sanders.

Angharad said: “It is an absolute pleasure to welcome Teleri to Pembrokeshire to work with our aspiring young performers. Since emerging from the lockdowns, there has been a marked increase in anxiety, self-esteem and confidence issues among our young people, and performing arts can help to support them as they seek to rebuild and relearn these skills.

“The theme of all of our work is positivity, wellbeing and supporting each other. Students work in a constructive way, with breath connection for performing connected weekly to mindfulness, wellbeing and anxiety reduction. The West End in Wales workshops also focus on this positivity and inclusiveness, with an open-door policy for any young artist wanting to meet and work with the top of our profession.”

Limelight runs regular Saturday Stage School sessions which are available for four- to 18-year-olds and cover all aspects of performing, as well as annual productions and screen acting exams. Angharad also offers lessons in singing, music theory and various instruments, online and in person.
