There are so many little things we can all do to reduce our impact on Planet Earth, live more ethically and lower our carbon footprint to help reduce climate change. It may seem overwhelming but by tackling things one small step at a time we can all make a difference.

One way of reducing excess food packaging and transport, and lowering the cost of the food, is to join or start a community scheme. Basics such as flour and rice can be bought by the sack and then distributed to the members of the group in their own reusable containers. This can be done with just a few friends, neighbours and family, or on a larger scale. Suma (www.suma.coop) is a good example – it is a co-operative wholesaler of thousands of vegetarian and natural products that are responsibly sourced.
