Food Banks: Most Wanted Donations

We came across a post on Facebook about what kind of products are most useful if you are donating to food banks

It’s easy to think we are doing the right thing with our donations but this article suggests we can provide more useful items.

Here are some ideas.

  1. Consider when donating dried ready meals that need the addition of milk and butter: these things may not be available at the food banks
  2. Long life milk in cartons is always useful
  3. Pasta sauce and spaghetti noodles are common donations. Maybe something different would be more useful
  4. A can opener is a welcome addition to accompany gifts of vegetables and soup unless you donate cans with the ring pull tops
  5. Cooking oil is very useful
  6. Spices, herbs, salt and pepper are a great help
  7. Teabags and coffee are always welcome
  8. Sugar and flour are rare gifts. More of those.
  9. Seeds so people can try growing their own food are great in season
  10. Tuna and crackers are apparently well received.
  11. Lots of  peanut butter and jam are donated, but usually not sliced  bread.
  12. Butter or margarine are great.
  13. Likewise eggs .
  14. Cake mixes and icing will be very welcome for someone who needs to make a birthday cake.
  15. Don’t forget washing-up liquid
  16. Feminine hygiene products are very important

Kitty has forgotten how long she has been here now but she loves Pembrokeshire for its beauty and it's people. She spends her time searching out stories for, swimming in the sea , drawing and painting as Snorkelfish and eating cake. She says " has been an opportunity to celebrate this beautiful county and its people. Keep the stories coming. We love to hear from you."
