FADDS – Dramatically Busy

JANA DAVIDSON has this update on FADDS (Fishguard and District Dramatic Society). Jana lives in Fishguards and is a mainstay of the company: 

For the past two years we’ve been the in-house community theatre group based at Theatr Gwaun. In that time we have performed 12 shows including; two pantos, Addams Family and Into The Woods musicals, Calendar Girls and The Odd Couple while also running weekly sessions with our youth theatre to perform Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, our modern take on A Midsummer Night’s Dream and just recently Fantastic Mr Fox. 

Our members come from all walks of life and are aged from six to 80-plus. Our performances are across the range of theatre genres to give as many people as possible the opportunity to be involved, whether on the stage, acting, singing and dancing, or off, with costumes, props, set or tech. Those involved in current shows usually rehearse a couple of times a week.

Coming up is our annual awards night, and we’ve just auditioned for our next two big shows, A Christmas Carol (November 2024) and Aladdin the Panto (January 2025). We also have our renowned Summer School Play in a Week and Variety Show, the Show Choir’s debut, We are also singing for a couple of the cruise ships coming in this summer too. We’ll be taking part in Carnival again this year. As well as all that, FADDS has an active social life. We like to support our fellow drama groups as much as possible and we love a quiz.

We are all-inclusive, welcoming, supportive and love to have fun. FADDS is celebrating 30 years of panto, with Aladdin, this year.
