Watch Out, Covid’s About

Covid seems to be back this summer and, although we are being much more stoical this time around, doctors are warning us to be careful.

It seems that there are two new strains of the virus, FLiRT and LB.1, which are being monitored; but some of us, apparently, are confusing hay fever or flu with covid. Only testing will reveal which is the virus and which is flu or allergens. While many of us are concerned about coughs and sneezes, doctors warn that a cough alone is a common symptom of non-covid health issues that don’t require a hospital visit.

Symptoms of the new variants, FLiRT and LB.1 include:

Fever

Cough

Fatigue

Loss of taste or smell

Sore throat

Muscle or body aches

Shortness of breath

Headache

Runny nose

If it doubt, stay at home and do a test.

To keep doctors and hospitals from becoming overwhelmed, the advice is to look out for critical symptoms that warrant contacting a health professional.

These might be:

Chest pain

Difficulty breathing

Coughing up blood

Swollen and painful neck

Be well, folks, and take care of each other.
