Creation of Sacred Space

Pembrokeshire artists Maura Hazelden and Lou Laurens with Jacob Whittaker have been creating an event for some years now.
Entitled Untitled Holy Hiatus, this performative event explores how liminal space is created, experienced and shared, using repetitions of a phrase or movement and a 13th century song. The event takes place over six hours on 23 May 23 between 4pm and 10.15pm at the Small World Theatre | Theatr Byd Bychan, Bath House Road | Heol Clôs y Bath, Cardigan | Aberteifi, SA43 IJY.
They say each event includes live vocal performance and playback of the previous year’s recording – a process that amplifies the acoustic response of the space which slowly overwhelms the earlier recordings to form an evolving soundscape.
The event has become an annual ritual, this being its fifth year.
The kitchen will be open for refreshments, and there will also be an exhibition of work from previous years.
The organisers say: “Come to be present within the space created. Use the space for meditation, prayer, contemplation. People who use movement (or yoga etc) as contemplation or prayer may wish to move rather than sit.”
There is a break between 6.50pm and 7.05pm during which people already in the space may remain if they wish, new people will be admitted after 7.05pm. There is a limited number of people allowed in at any one time
