New Community Use for Chapel

After 134 years of use for worship, Brynmyrnach Chapel in Hermon is about to serve as a new centre for the community.

This cooperative, first proposed by councillor Cris Tomos, will have local people as shareholders in what is hoped to become a blueprint for other Pembrokeshire chapels and churches that might otherwise fall into decay.

Funds raised to invest in the purchase of the chapel came fom CarTrefUn  and the Shared Prosperity Fund administered by Pembrokeshire County Council. Future plans hinge on converting the building into a hub, and ideas for how it will go forward will be discussed by the community at village meetings.

Already, ideas such as a village bakery and a pop-up café have been discussed and it is hoped that many more possibilities will come forward
