Plea to Council to Clean Up the Cleddau

The state of the Cleddau river which flows through Pembrokeshire has been the subject of great concern for some time and both residents and campaigners are asking local government to take action.
A petition, now on Pembrokeshire County Council’s website, urges it to act urgently to remedy the situation.
The e-petition is asking Pembrokeshire County Council to create and enact a Clean Rivers Policy. It demands that the neglect of the Cleddau cease and that the river is restored to health..
Concerns are being raised that the current state of the river is a public health hazard and has detrimental effects, on the county’s economy.
The petition needs 500 signatures, before an opportunity will be granted to present it at a full council session.
Signatures of more than 100 will elicit a discussion at a council overview and scrutiny committee.
