Remember Dementia at Christmas

Dementia Friends has asked us all to reimagine Christmas this year for people living with dementia.
Christmas can be challenging for many people, not least those living with dementia – and the families and carers who support them.
The organisation reminds us that changes to routine, noise, lighting and busy gatherings can sometimes feel overwhelming for those who are living with dementia.. With a few thoughtful adjustments, however, it says the season can feel calmer and more comfortable, and help everyone feel involved.
It says: “You can help people living with dementia by making small changes over the festive period.” You will find tips on the website [see below]. It’s often the little touches that make the biggest difference – sticking to familiar routines, conscious choices around food and drinks, and encouraging loved ones to take part in decorating in their own way.”
And please remember the carers. If you know someone who will be supporting someone with dementia, let them know you care about them too.
