Penrhyn Tyddewi yn ysbrydoli artist o Sir Gaerfyrddin

Ym mis Hydref eleni, bydd Oriel a Chanolfan Ymwelwyr Oriel y Parc yn cychwyn ar brosiect newydd cyffrous gyda’r Artist Preswyl, Allison Rudd-Mumford.

Yn wreiddiol, trefnwyd bod Allison yn arwain teithiau tywys o amgylch Llwybr yr Arfordir, gan gasglu samplau o blanhigion, gwymon a chregyn i weithio gyda nhw yn ôl yn y stiwdio. Fodd bynnag, o ganlyniad i’r sefyllfa bresennol o ran y coronafeirws (Covid-19), mae’r cynlluniau hyn bellach wedi cael eu canslo.

Er mai dim ond yn ddiweddarach yn ei bywyd y llwyddodd i ymroi i’w chelfyddyd, aeth Allison yn ei blaen i ennill BA(Anrh.) o Ysgol Gelf Caerfyrddin yn 2009, ac ers hynny, mae wedi bod yn rhan o grwpiau artistig ledled Gorllewin Cymru.

Peintio yw hoff gyfrwng Allison, gyda phaent acrylig yn bennaf, ac yn aml bydd yn cynnwys printio neu gollage yn ei lluniau. Caiff ei gwaith ei gadw mewn casgliadau yn y DU, Ffrainc ac Awstria, a chyn belled â Seland Newydd.

Dywedodd Claire Bates, Rheolwr Ymwelwyr a Gwasanaethau yn Oriel y Parc: “Mae’n bleser gennym groesawu Allison fel ein Hartist Preswyl ar gyfer mis Hydref.

“Mae arfordir dramatig Penrhyn Tyddewi wedi ysbrydoli llawer o bobl drwy gydol hanes, ac rydyn ni’n edrych ymlaen at weld canlyniadau’r bartneriaeth fywiog hon rhwng yr artist a’r dirwedd.

“Bydd detholiad o waith Allison, fydd ar gael i’w brynu, yn cael ei arddangos yn Oriel y Tŵr drwy gydol y cyfnod hwn.”

St Davids Peninsula provides inspiration for Carmarthenshire artist

This October, Oriel y Parc Gallery and Visitor Centre will be embarking on an exciting new project with artist in residence Allison Rudd-Mumford.

Allison was originally scheduled to lead guided walks around the Coast Path, collecting plant specimens, seaweed and shells to work with back in the studio.  However, as a result of the current coronavirus situation, these have now been cancelled.

Despite only being able to devote time to her art later in life, Allison achieved a BA (Hons) from Carmarthen School of Art in 2009 and has since involved herself in artistic groups across West Wales

Allison’s preferred medium is painting, mainly acrylics, often incorporating printing or collage into her images. Her work is held in collections in the UK, France and Austria, and as far afield as New Zealand.

Claire Bates, visitor and services anager at Oriel y Parc said: “It’s a pleasure to welcome Allison as our artist in residence for the month of October.

“The dramatic coastline of the St Davids Peninsula has inspired many throughout history, and we look forward to seeing the results of this vibrant partnership between artist and landscape.

“A selection of Allison’s work, available for purchase, will be on display in the Tower Gallery throughout this period.”
