Artists of the Phoenix – 5: Muriel Davies

Muriel Davies is a driving force in arranging and organising Tenby’s Phoenix art exhibitions – and a source of encouragement and support to artists generally

She says of herself: “Born in Pembrokeshire many years ago, I took an interest in art at around 12 years old and painted a picture for a local eisteddfod – and won a prize! This must have instilled in me an interest In drawing and painting as I continued, throughout my life.”

Muriel’s favourite medium has always been watercolour but she has dabbled in acrylics, oil and cold wax, and charcoal over the years.

She says: “I have worked mainly in realism but in recent times have been experimenting with abstract watercolour.”

Her  entries to the Tenby exhibition are mainly abstract or contemporary watercolour.

“I do hope the public will support the exhibition as usual. There is no entrance fee, and a selection of amazing paintings from some of the most prolific Pembrokeshire artists will be on display, together with sales of beautiful cards and mounted originals and prints at very competitive prices. All welcome and look forward to seeing you there.”
