Billy is known for his work with the Royal British Legion and local Remembrance events. He says: “Our branch, Fishguard and Goodwick, has a few members and recently we have lost a few due to events beyond our control. With the members we have at present, we will not be able to organise our Remembrance events this year or in the next few years unless we replace these members.
“Remembrance and all the events around this time of year happen due to the hard work of individuals: members who take poppy boxes to locations, pick them up, count the money and bank the money, order the wreaths, hand them out, take the donations… In short, if you want this to happen, then we need support and help.
“You don’t need to have served, you need to believe in what we do. You need to be a member – it’s only £18 a year – and we need help, especially with the poppy collection. It would be a shame if this stops, so please if you can help, get in touch and come to our meetings. The next one is on Monday 19 September, 6pm at the Rugby Club.”
