Winter’s Wonder Land

We all know that Pembrokeshire can be a magical place. But storyteller Deb Winter takes the magic into another dimension with her truly extraordinary tales.
I had the delight of being swept away by her recent Otherworld performance at Burnett’s Hill Chapel, Martletwy, where she was more than ably assisted by her musical accomplice, Jess Ward.
Jess’s harp, violin, drum and crystalline vocals were the perfect foil for Deb’s verbal excursions beyond the everyday, to a place inhabited by fairies and goblins, queens and princes.
As Deb energetically wove her narratives, Jess provided a mixture of musical interludes and atmospheric interjections.
Their double act is seamless and they obviously enjoy each other’s contributions as well as keeping their audience spellbound.
Our emotions were taken on an often hairy ride – through encounters with a cast of characters including the inhabitants of the underworld, a changeling baby and good folk caught up in dark doings.
Winter and Ward really do take you on a journey far away from today with their timeless and irresistible stories.
