St Dogmaels Pub Wins Award

Looking for a friendly pub in Pembrokeshire to wile away a few happy hours? There must be many but, according to security company Get Licensed, the White Hart Inn in St Dogmaels has come second in the whole of the UK.
Experts looked at a range of reviews – and crime rates – and found that the White Hart received a very high score on Trip Advisor for its warmth and welcome and commented that the most welcoming pubs are usually in areas where the crime rate is low. St Dogmaels had a reported crime rate of 39 in 2024.
The White Hart started life in 1769, and the community boasts that it was the last traditional pub in the village before it closed in 2019 and the community began a two-year campaign of fundraising to make it their own.
Support came from the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government, the Social Business Growth Fund of Social Investment Cymru at WCVA and a grant from Pembrokeshire County Council.
More than 550 shareholders came on board , both from the locality and far flung parts of the world, and January 2021 saw public ownership confirmed.
The pub promises a friendly welcome to all, good locally sourced food at a sensible price, and real ale. It is also home to book clubs, meet-up groups and entertainment including folk nights, and quiz nights.
