In Defence of Net Zero
West Wales Climate Coalition (WWCC) had a strong presence outside Pembrokeshire County Council last week – backing the petition that urged the council not to ditch its net zero ambitions and its declaration of climate emergency.
As representatives of communities and organisations held a vigil outside the council offices, some attended in the public gallery.
While there was majority support among councillors for matters to be deferred to the working group already set up to look at Zero Carbon planning, something that was expected, the WWCC was disappointed in the inability of the council to decide to reaffirm its declaration of a Climate Emergency. It says it is also “concerned about the composition of the working group. But we let our views be known, and will continue to monitor events.”
