Community Fridge Thanks Supporters
The Community Fridge with Transition Bro Gwaun started life in the now demolished Transition Café that used to stand near the Co-op in Fishguard.
From 2017 its home has been in a converted shed outside the Gateway Building in Clive Road and now flies under the flag of Fishguard and Goodwick Food Support.
Organisers say: “Our regular volunteers collect surplus food, which is donated by supermarkets and other food outlets in Fishguard, Haverfordwest, and places in between.”
They are very careful with the food that is donated and assure all who use the facility that the food is perfectly good to eat.
They remind us: “The ‘best before’ date (BBE) is about food quality, not safety. The food will be perfectly safe to eat but may not be at its best. The ‘use by’ date on food is about safety. This is the most important date to remember. Foods can be eaten until the ‘use by’ date but not after.”
While anyone can donate, and anyone can take from the shed, they are always grateful for donations.
Organisers are grateful for the community support and for the wonderful volunteers and donators.
