Remember the last time we were invaded by the French?
Sure you do, especially if you live in the Fishguard area where we folks are rightly proud of our history.
Want to get a taste of how it all happened in 1797?
You can, with a free weekend re-enactment on the weekend of the 18 and 19 July between 10am and 5pm. Also on show will be horses and parades.
Enjoy some live battle scenes, all fully costumed, the surrender of the dastardly French invaders, and the signing of the treaty at the Royal Oak, all without any blood being spilled.
As well as this, Fishguard’s self-guided heritage trail is new for this year and will help you find your way around the town’s history. Details of the trail, which connects 46 locations across the twin towns of Fishguard and Goodwick, can be downloaded.
