A Seasonal Poem: Spring Is Coming

Oh look! look ! look!
I don’t remember planting those.
The vibrant delicate crocus petals
are already spread wide revealing their yellow hearts.
And I have only just noticed.
Suddenly ,
as though spring has decided it is ‘show time’ at last,
she is everywhere.
In the still snapping wind, under a sky of uncompromising pewter
startling white snowdrops have risen
to carpet the way across the garden,
their heads nodding, Yes ! yes ! yes !
The daffodils are up and preparing to join the celebration,
some, early revealing their golden bonnets, promising,
“we are all coming “.
Under the hedge , a wagtail bobs and curtsies.
The primrose buds hint at so much more,
more light,
more colour,
more hope.
Spring is coming at last.
