Swimmers Raise £1,000 for Charity

Nicole Evans of TSSA presents a cheque to Amanda-Jane Myatt, Paul Sartori store manager

The Big Golden Swim is held annually at North Beach and organised by the Tenby Sea Swimming Association (TSSA), which also stages the summertime Caldey Swim, from the monastic island to Tenby mainland.

These two events have enabled TSSA to raise nearly £300,000 for local, national and international charities and good causes over the years. The Boxing Day swimmers can choose to collect for their own good cause, or to support the charities nominated by TSSA.

The Boxing Day Swim has taken place for over 50 years, and in 2022 Paul Sartori Foundation was chosen as one of the charities to benefit. Amanda-Jane Myatt, Paul Sartori store manager, recently met Nicole Evans of TSSA to receive a cheque for £1,000. Nicole said: “The TSSA chose Paul Sartori Foundation in association with St Mary’s Church in Tenby, as Paul Sartori Foundation is its chosen charity, and also because of the work it does in our community. They are helping lots of people we know.”

Sandra Dade, charity manager at Paul Sartori Foundation, said: “We are so grateful to all local event organisers, such as Tenby Sea Swimming Association for supporting the charity. It is through the generosity of the local community that we are able to continue to provide end-of-life care to Pembrokeshire people.”

Paul Sartori Hospice at Home provides a range of services to Pembrokeshire people living in the final stages of a life-limiting illness.
